NSS Committee

  • The National Service Scheme (NSS) was formally launched in India on September 24, 1969, during the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi.

In 2009, we proposed to open a new NSS unit in our college with Dr. P. Srinivas, professor of community dentistry as project officer.

  • The NSS unit of our institution was approved by the relevant authorities in 2010, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to social service and community development.
  • The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a student-based voluntary program in India that encourages community service, personality development, and character building. The NSS aims to establish connections between campus and community, college and village, and knowledge and action. It’s a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

Purpose:

The NSS aims to develop the personality and character of student youth through voluntary community service, fostering a sense of social responsibility. The motto, “Not Me, But You,” emphasizes selfless service and consideration for others.

  • Key Features:

  • Awards and Recognition:The NSS recognizes the contributions of volunteers, Programme Officers (POs), NSS Units, and University NSS Cells with various awards.

The NSS is implemented at the university, college, and +2 school levels, with Programme Officers (POs) overseeing activities and a network of NSS cells.
